How to play Brick Breaker
A visual guide · Line up your first rebound
Your goal
Find your angle. Keep the ball bouncing.
Move the paddle beneath the ball and clear every brick. Each clear opens another level. You have three lives and can finish whenever you like with Stop & bank.
These are simplified teaching diagrams, with enlarged pieces and marks. Your live board has its own layout.
01Line up, then launch
- Select Play. Move your mouse across the board, or drag across it on touch. A drag positions the paddle without serving the ball.
- With the board focused, Left and Right or A and D move the paddle. Choose Launch ball or press Space to serve.
- Watch the descending ball and put the paddle beneath it. A miss uses a life only when your last ball falls. The remaining bricks and earned score stay with you for the next launch.
Use Pause or P for a break. Escape pauses a running board. Help freezes the ball and upgrade timers. Close help and choose Resume when play was running; a game already manually paused stays paused. A ready ball still waits for your launch.
02Aim with the contact point
Near the center
Near an edge
Keep the paddle within reach of the ball first. Once you have a safe return, use the edges to reach openings and send the ball behind the bricks.
03Read the marks on tougher bricks
Two marks mean armor
A plus starts a chain
- An adjacent explosive can continue the chain. A chain may reach cells that the first explosion could not.
- One blast cracks fresh armor; a later hit can finish it. Each destroyed brick scores once.
- A letter on a brick identifies the upgrade it drops when you break it. Catch the falling letter with your paddle.
04Catch a little help
W, S and M
- Catching Wide or Slow again refreshes its timer. Its strength does not stack. Paused time uses none of the remaining seconds.
- Multi has no countdown. One ball falling is safe while another remains; only the last ball uses a life.
- A level clear or last-ball miss removes the current upgrades. A missed capsule costs nothing.
05Build a combo, then keep going
Five bricks, one shared chain
- Base points are 50 for normal bricks, 100 for armor and 75 for explosives. Multiply each destroyed brick by the current combo.
- Bricks 1–4 use ×1, 5–8 use ×2, 9–12 use ×3 and 13 onward use ×4. All your balls share the chain. A paddle return, last-ball miss or new level resets it.
- The 500-point clear bonus is added once and is not multiplied. Choose Next level, then launch when ready. Your score and remaining lives continue.
- Five layouts repeat. The ball gets faster and the paddle narrower through level 6, then difficulty settles. There is no final victory after level 5 and no run timer.
- Stop & bank keeps your full earned score, including points from an unfinished level. Using all three lives also finishes the run. Choose Play Again for a fresh start or Menu to browse games.
