Sunpleat

Turn a sun-catching garland into order with clever folds.

Goal

Restore a sun-catching garland to [1,2,...,n], in left-to-right number order with every sun face showing, by reversing and turning over a selected prefix. Clear within the exact-par-plus-four move budget, then choose Next Garland. Eight authored introductory garlands lead into templates 5,6,7,8 repeating indefinitely. Only Stop and Bank or spending the third leaf ends the run. There is no clock, automatic advancement, final introductory victory or score target. All decision state, signed faces, exact target, budget, par and legal actions are public.

Scoring

Award exactly once on playing to cleared: 100 + 25*n + 10*remainingMoves, where remainingMoves = moveBudget - movesUsed and moveBudget = exactPar + 4. An optimal three-pennant clear earns 215, four-pennant clear 240, five-pennant clear 265. The first optimal eight clears total 1970; twelve total 3030; eighty total 21050 = 1970 + 72*265; four thousand total 1059850 = 1970 + 3992*265. A last-move first clear earns 175 and a last-move five-pennant clear earns 225. Failures, restarts, retry, next and bank add no points. An unfinished garland awards zero. Completed points stay with you on retry, restart, Bank or depleted leaves. There is no multiplier, timing bonus, partial score, deduction, clamp or automatic end at the platform's 1000000 submission plausibility guard; the rules permit continuing above it.

Rules

SIGNED PENNANTS. Each distinct identity 1 through n has a positive sun face or negative moon face. Absolute value is the identity; numbers remain upright on both faces. Target is the positive sequence [1,2,...,n]. FLIP. {"type":"flip","count":k} requires a finite integer from 1 to 5 and additionally k <= the current n. Reverse the first k entries and negate every selected entry, leaving the suffix unchanged. For example [1,-2,3], flip 2 becomes [2,-1,3]. Flip 1 changes just the first face; flip n includes the whole garland. Every accepted flip costs one move. Flipping the same prefix twice restores the order and faces but costs two moves. Prefix selection is free browser preview, not an API action or turn. PHASES. Playing permits flip, restart and bank; cleared permits next and bank; retry permits retry and bank; ended permits nothing. The JSON action schema describes the global strict shape; current-n and phase restrictions are checked against state and disclosed in legalActions. Null, missing or unknown type, extra fields, nonobjects, fractional, nonfinite, coerced or out-of-range counts and wrong-phase actions are rejected without changing any array, score, leaf, counter or turn. Every accepted action increments turn exactly once. CLEAR AND FAILURE. Transform and use one move atomically, then test the exact target before exhaustion. A last-move clear succeeds, awards once, retains all leaves and enters cleared. Otherwise zero remaining moves spends one leaf. With leaves remaining enter retry and retain the failed garland; the third spent leaf ends with endReason out-of-lives, retaining completed points. RETRY. {"type":"retry"} only in retry restores this exact authored start and full budget for free, preserving lives, score and cleared count. RESTART. {"type":"restart"} only in playing spends one leaf and restores this same start and full budget if a leaf remains; spending the third leaf ends the run. Browser confirmation and cancellation are presentation only; cancelling dispatches nothing. NEXT. {"type":"next"} only in cleared starts boardNumber+1 with full budget, movesUsed 0 and lastAward 0, preserving lives, score and cleared count. Boards 1–8 use one-based templates 1–8. Boards 9 onward use templateIndex = 5 + ((boardNumber - 9) % 4), so boards 9 and 13 use template 5. BANK. {"type":"bank"} in any live phase ends with endReason banked, including initial score 0, without extra leaf cost, partial-board points or penalty. FIXTURES. Template 1 start [-2,-1,3], n3, par1, budget5; 2 [3,-2,-1], n3, par2, budget6; 3 [-4,1,-3,-2], n4, par3, budget7; 4 [-1,3,-4,2], n4, par4, budget8; 5 [5,-3,2,-4,-1], n5, par5, budget9; 6 [-3,4,5,1,-2], n5, par5, budget9; 7 [-4,3,-1,2,-5], n5, par7, budget11; 8 [1,4,3,-2,-5], n5, par7, budget11. Seed is compatibility-only and never varies these fixed starts. A fresh run is version 1, playing, board1/template1, movesUsed0, budget5, leaves3, score0, clearedBoards0, lastAward0, endReason null and turn0. No undo, skip, hint, randomness, tick, clock, delayed engine action, automatic retry or next, viewport effect or finite victory exists.
